Central (3-0) Beat Fresno 33-7. Grizzlies started as expected, next up is a much improved Sunnyside. Central can’t take the Wildcats lightly.
Clovis West (2-0-1) Tied Edison 27-27. Let 14 point lead vanish late against Tigers. No time to think about that with Bullard visiting this week. Another premier game against a quality opponent.
Clovis East (2-2) Lost to Bullard 24-19. 4th quarter rally falls short. Redlands from So. Cal visits this week. Game was made to help power exposure for state playoff considerations. Thats out now. T-Wolves still dangerous.
Madera (1-3) Beat Redwood 42-35. Coyotes win shootout and stops bleeding. After horrible start, Madera has some momentum and can enjoy a bye week.
Buchanan (1-2) Lost to Bakersfield 23-13. Bears played hard in loss that had the appearance to be a rout before kickoff. Buchanan visits Edison this week and could have a chance if Tigers have a letdown after CW game.
Clovis (0-3) Lost to Stockdale 14-0. Cougars condition has not improved. Not many games remain on the schedule that look winnable. A visit to Sanger this week does not look to have a positive result.
CMAC
Bullard (3-0) Beat Clovis East 24-19. First win ever vs CE stamp the Knights as a team to be considered a serious contender. A visit to Clovis West could be an important seeding factor in November. A big game for both teams.
Edison (2-0-1) Tied Clovis West 27-27. Strange ending to great game. Tigers came back big to overcome horrible special teams neglect and tie the Eagles. If Edison devoted time to Special teams as others do, they would be very hard to beat. Tigers host Buchanan who they took lightly last year-and lost.
Sanger (2-1) Beat Lemoore 17-14. Apaches got revenge for last years loss. Sanger despite unbelievable injuries, will remain dangerous. Clovis visits this week and Apaches look to avenge last seasons hard fought defeat.
Reedley (2-1) Beat Golden West 30-14. Pirates have had no problems putting up points this season, defense is getting settled. McLane visits this week and should pose few problems.
Hoover (1-2) Lost to Tulare Western 23-16. Patriots played hard, came up short against quality opponent. Hoover hosts North-Bak this week and needs a win before starting up against some very tough teams.
NYL
Roosevelt (3-1) Beat Frontier 13-12. Same, weak opposition, but a win. This will change this week against a strong Bakersfield Christian visiting. Nonetheless, it’s good to see the Riders with a winning record 4 games in.
Sunnyside (2-1) Beat Washington 35-28. Rousing win for Wildcats. Offense has been lighting it up. Game this week at Central could stamp Sunnyside as a serious player, more than just the best in the NYL. Stay tuned.
Memorial (1-2) Lost to Garces 34-7. Panthers lack of numbers is obvious when playing more elite teams. Game against Yosemite on the hill this week doesn’t look good. Staying healthy vital for SJM before starting league play.
Fresno (0-3) Lost to Central 33-7. No surprise. Warriors don’t have the horses to match up to TRAC/CMAC teams. This week at Sierra will give Fresno a more realistic chance for it’s first win.
McLane (0-3) Lost to Kerman 12-0. Highlanders have scored 13 points in 3 games. This will not win very many games. Visiting Reedley will not help.
Bits and pieces:
Per the Edison-Clovis West game: Great job, Fresno Unified. Not. How can the lights shut off at a stadium w/o a method of an override. This is high tech? Other than that, a epic contest. CW showed that they haven’t lost a step with the coaching change. Edison showed a never say die attitude with a stirring comeback. The overflow crowd at Sunnyside Stadium got their monies worth.
Selma now has two in a row.
Dos Palos broke a 2 game losing streak.
Both Tulare and Tulare Western look tough.
