Clovis East v RedlandsTRAC

Central (4-0) Beat Sunnyside 13-7. Had to comeback late to top improved Wildcats. Next up is Bullard. The Grizzlies must control the ball on offense and force turnovers to hang with the Knights. Duh.

Clovis East (3-2) Beat Redlands 26-20 OT. Not great game by CE, but again, enough to win. 5 games in and a bye.

Clovis West (2-1-1) Lost to Bullard 28-25. Even with Jelmini out and some suspensions (what the hell is going on at CW?), Eagles are tough. Now a visit to Centennial-Corona which presents problems.

Madera (1-3) After bye week, the Coyotes host McClymonds-Oakland who Madera beat in a wild come from behind shootout last season. Madera is not the Coyotes of last season-yet. This game should answer some questions.

Buchanan (1-3) Lost to Edison 32-0. Bears got blasted, not much to be positive about. A game with North-Bak should produce a second win, nothing to get excited about, a loss would be devastating.

Clovis (0-4) Lost to Sanger 17-14. The loss was expected, however the Cougars made a spirited comeback and almost pulled it out. Some young players started to step forward. A visit to Atascadero will likely result in another defeat.

CMAC

Bullard (4-0) Beat Clovis West 28-25. Knight revenge tour continues. Central is next, and could test the Knights as they match up well with speed and physical play. Bullard can’t take unbeaten Central lightly.

Edison (3-0-1) Beat Buchanan 32-0. Deep Tigers riding high and playing with confidence. Have a bye to try and improve their weakness-a woeful kicking game.

Sanger (3-1) Beat Clovis 17-14. End of game FG wins for Apaches. Sanger did not look impressive, but still came away with a hard fought win. A visit to Fresno this week should be a bit a a break.

Reedley (3-1) Blasted McLane 54-7. Pirates have their O moving, but step up in class this week against Centennial. Reedley has the tools to compete with most teams on their schedule, not quite with the elite.

Hoover (2-2) Beat North 12-0. Patriots post second shutout of year, however have not shown strength to compete against stronger teams. Game this week at Sunnyside is vital, a loss will send Hoover in a downward spiral.

NYL

Sunnyside (2-2) Lost to Central 13-7. Wildcats lost great opportunity to step forward by fading in 4th quarter against Central. Although the NYL title looks like a lock, Sunnyside still needs a win against quality oppt. Hoover fits that.

Roosevelt (3-2) Lost to Bakersfield-Christian 35-12. Riders played hard although over matched by BC. A visit to Madera-South gives Roosevelt a chance at victory #4, a mark not achieved in years.

Memorial (1-3) Lost to Yosemite 28-14. All things considered, not a bad loss. Panthers, although out manned, played hard to the end. A winnable game vs CVC should give SJM momentum headed into league play.

Fresno (1-3) Beat Sierra 30-3. First road win for Warriors in a long time. A visit from Sanger should slow enthusiasm, but Warriors could make it a game if they can avoid getting down early.

McLane (0-4) Lost to Reedley 54-7. Highlanders seem to have fallen apart. If they can’t rebound and defeat a rather weak Wasco team this week, they might run the table in reverse. This team is not void of talent.

Jerry Davis, Edison QB is coming of age.

Props to Kingsburg, Fowler, Yosemite, Caruthers, Exeter, and Selma (winner of 3 in a row).

What is up at Clovis West? Rumors of player misconduct are a major concern for this flagship program. For the second time in 3 years.

Clovis isn’t as bad a their record would indicate.
